BOTOX

Botulinum toxin injections, such as Botox, relax the muscles in your face to smooth out lines and wrinkles, such as crow's feet and frown lines.
It's not permanent – it usually lasts for around 3 or 4 months.
What to think about before having botulinum toxin injections
If you're thinking about having botulinum toxin injections, be clear about why you want them.
Read more about whether a cosmetic procedure is right for you.
Make sure the person doing your injections is suitably qualified and experienced.
They should be a medical practitioner and on a register to show they meet set standards in training, skill and insurance.
Avoid practitioners who have no training or have only completed a short training course.
When you meet the practitioner, ask about:
their training, qualifications and experience
the name of the product, if it's licensed, and how and where it's made
any risks or possible side effects
what will happen if things go wrong
what insurance cover they have
Botulinum toxin can only be prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner, such as a doctor, dentist, pharmacist prescriber or nurse prescriber.
The person prescribing botulinum toxin is responsible for making sure it's given safely. They might not give the injections, but they should make sure it's done by a qualified and experienced practitioner.
When you cannot have botulinum toxin injections
In certain circumstances, botulinum toxin injections are not recommended, including if:
you have a skin infection
you're unwell in any way
you have a neuromuscular condition like
you're taking certain medicines
you're pregnant or breastfeeding
What having botulinum toxin injections involves
Your face will be cleaned and botulinum toxin will be injected into muscles in your face using a very fine needle.
You will need injections in different places, depending on the area being treated. The practitioner will ask you to move the muscles in your face to help find the best place for the injections.
It usually takes about 10 minutes.
Afterwards
You will not see a change straight away. It takes about 2 or 3 days to start working, and 2 to 3 weeks to see the full effect.
Do not massage or rub your face for 3 days. Also, avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing (including using sunbeds), and the sauna for 2 days. Your practitioner should be able to give you more advice about what you should and should not do.
The effects usually last for about 3 or 4 months. If you have botulinum toxin injections again, you should wait at least 3 months. It might stop working if you have it too often.
Risks
The risks of botulinum toxin injections are small if it's done correctly by a suitably qualified practitioner. Speak to your practitioner about the risks.
After treatment you may have:
a headache and flu-like symptoms for the first 24 hours
bruising, swelling and redness where the needles went in the skin
a frozen look – you might not be able to move the muscles in your face if too much botulinum toxin is injected
temporary weakness and droopiness in your face – for example, your eyelids or eyebrows may droop if the botulinum toxin moves into these areas
Very rarely, serious problems such as blurred or double vision can happen if the area around the eyes is treated, or breathing difficulties if the neck area is injected.
What to do if you have problems
Talk to your practitioner if you've had botulinum toxin injections and you're not happy with the results.
If you have a serious problem, such as difficulty breathing, dial 999 to ask for an ambulance or go straight to your nearest accident and emergency (A&E).

What are Fat Dissolving Injections?
Injection lipolysis, also known as intralipotherapy, is a minimally invasive medical procedure for targeted fat reduction. Commonly referred to as fat dissolving injections, intralipotherapy is a form of mesotherapy and one of the nonsurgical fat reduction options
Fat Dissolving Injections are a safe, effective treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoyingly wobbly bits.
These injections can be used to treat small, exercise resistant, pockets of fat around the chin, chest, underarm pouches, bra fat, upper arms, abdomen, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective for body contouring, but is not a treatment for weight loss.
Made up from a number of different plant based compounds that have been refined in a lab environment. The ingredients dissolve the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. The fat cells become unstable and break open. The fatty acids contained within the cell are then eliminated by macrophages (part of the body’s immune system) and the liver.
Are Fat Dissolving Injections suitable for me?

1. BROW LIFT
We will start if off easy. The purpose for this one is in the name. Tension in the brow bone and above causes it to furrow and drop, resulting in an obstructed view of the eyelid. The Botox injection relaxes the muscles causing the brows to fall. In addition to this the injections also smooth out the area around the brow causing an all round refreshed and youthful glow.

2. BUNNY LINES
When you scrunch your nose up lines appear around the bridge. Bunny lines can also be prominent on some people when they smile, with lines forming in the same direction as laughter lines. Injected into the top of the nose this is a treatment that is regularly forgotten about and often a tell tale sign of those who have had Botox. They focus on just the forehead and mouth lines forgetting the natural lines formed in the middle of the face.

4. GUMMY SMILE
A gummy smile is caused when you smile and your upper lip becomes thin and lifted showing off your teeth and gums. This is due to an overactive muscle in the top lip causing it to pull back when over strenuous movement occurs in that area. The Botox injections are administrated in the nose to mouth lines, this channels a relaxant to that muscle. 5. PERIORAL RHYTIDES / SMOKER’S LINES

6. DOWNTURNED MOUTH
As we age the skin can fall downwards on the corners of our mouth. This causes a “downturned mouth” which can resemble an upset expression when relaxed. This is because the Depressor Anguli Oris muscle has been over worked and is causing the corners of the mouth to drop down. By relaxing this muscle with Botox it will lift back up to its natural position. Some like to do this treatment with a combination of dermal fillers to increase volume in this area.

7. PUCKERED CHIN
As we age we start to lose collagen and elasticity around the face, causing certain features to drop and skin to become loose. Ear Irrigation – What You Need To Know
Ear wax is a normal body secretion, providing protection against infection and dust particles.
The ear is self-cleaning, and wax works its way out naturally.
Never use cotton wool buds to clean inside your ears, they irritate the delicate skin inside the ear canal, also pushes wax back into the ear compacting it.
Prior to having your ear irrigation you need to complete the following for a minimum of 7 nights prior to your appointment:
Lie down with affected ear uppermost.
Using a dropper/pipette, instill 2-3 drops (up to 5 ml) of
pharmacy grade olive oil
(not from kitchen)
at room temperature into the ear canal.
Remain lying down for 5-10 minutes. It’s ideal to instill olive oil on affected ear at night then lay/sleep on unaffected ear. If putting olive oil in both ears, you may find it easier to do alternate ears on alternate nights.
Repeat this procedure daily for
at least 7 nights
prior to ear irrigation appointment.
Ear Irrigation is not risk free
It will only be carried out if the ear is completely blocked with wax.
Only one ear will be treated at a time.
Irrigation is not recommended within 2 weeks of flying
Partial blockage of the ear only requires irrigation if you wear a hearing aid and/or need a special examination.
Ear Irrigation can cause damage to the ear
From infection, acute and chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears), to possible perforation of the ear drum and deafness.
If you ever had surgery to your ears or had a perforated ear drum, you must tell us before the procedure.
To minimise risk of injury, the wax must be softened with ear drops for at least 7 days. Olive oil drops are well tolerated in most people. The drops should be used twice a day.
Ear Irrigation
An electronic ear irrigator is used; it involves a pressurised flow of warm water that removes the build-up of earwax. The irrigator has variable pressure control so that irrigation can be performed at the minimum pressure. A controlled flow of warm water will be squirted into your ear canal to flush out the earwax. Ear irrigation should be a painless procedure,
Tell the person who is treating you immediately if you have any:
Pain
Dizziness or
Symptoms such as these may be the result of an ear infection and will need further investigation.
If ear irrigation is unsuccessful at removing earwax from your ear, we may recommend:
Using eardrops again and returning for further irrigation.
That you be referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist to remove the earwax.
Ear irrigation is not suitable for everyone and will never be done for the following reasons:
Patient has previously
experienced complications
following this procedure in the past
History of
middle ear infection
in the last 6-8 weeks
Patient has
undergone any form of ear surgery
(apart from grommets that have extruded at least 18 months previously and it is documented subsequently that the tympanic membrane is intact)
in the last 18 months
Patient has a perforation
(hole)
of the eardrum
History of a
mucous discharge
Patient has a
cleft palate
(repaired or not)
There is evidence of
acute otitis externa (infection of ear canal) with pain & tenderness of the pinna
Total hearing loss in the other ear
You should not have ear irrigation if the ear to be treated is your only hearing ear.This is because there is a small chance it could cause permanent
